I cannot begin to list all the many things that have happened to me over the past seven and a half years in D.C. I love that city! However, I have come to a point in my life where I long for a change of scenery, a new adventure. I am sure to return to this place of memories, as I will always have people to visit, but, right now it is time for me to build a new home.
Atlanta, GA. It's a metropolis full of Southerners, what more can I ask for? An 8-hour drive to my parents' house? That's good. Affordable rent. Job opportunities. Publix!
I am currently looking for a design job. This site highlights some aspects of my portfolio. I have included my resume and a list of references for potential employers.
My name is Shani, I'm 26 years old. Since graduating from American University, I have been freelancing, consulting, waiting tables, and bartending. Whatever it takes to pay the bills!
I have always kept up with the creative aspects of my personality by seeking projects, either paid or personal. Additionally, I have enrolled in several classes to learn more about industry technologies and practices, so I am ready to go! My passion is of an artistic nature... digital imaging and photo manipulation, storytelling without words. The realist in me has developed graphic design skills, primarily in the areas of identity/logos and web design. I tend toward a clean and organized layouts, with relevant images. I incorporate CSS into web layouts, typography, and forms to keep file sizes small and pages loading quickly. No matter what, I am always thinking of new ways to solve the usage problems on the Internet: browser compatibility, user interfaces, "cool" vs. functional. I'm a pragmatist at heart.
My philosophy for life is simply to live, and not let things get in your way. This means ignoring negative people, having a positive outlook, and not harping on things you cannot change. On a personal level, it's realizing people say things the wrong way, so always think about intention, not words. Above all, do not waste time and energy on anger and grudges toward the people you love.
Wow, that was profound! I guess I can't help it, I'm a Pisces!
I also enjoy fine wines, good eats, football, books, Rolling Stone Magazine, SU|DO|KU, and trivia games. I'll try anything once.
So that's me in a nutshell. Know anybody in Atlanta? I don't really, yet. Please contact me with references, offers, invites and info.
Cheers!
